Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a public health issue in Indonesia, particularly among primary school-aged children who are at high risk of infection due to limited knowledge regarding prevention. This community service initiative aimed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of students at State Elementary School No. 128077 Pematangsiantar regarding DHF prevention through the implementation of the "3M" movement (Draining water containers, Covering water storage, and Recycling/reusing used items). The methods employed included lectures, demonstrations, Q&A sessions, leaflet distribution, and the use of audiovisual materials. The activity was conducted on April 8, 2026, targeting fifth and sixth-grade students. The results indicated that the participants engaged enthusiastically and actively in discussions, successfully grasping the causes, transmission routes, signs and symptoms of DHF, and prevention measures via the 3M movement. The use of educational media and demonstrations provided an effective learning experience, thereby improving student comprehension. Beyond increasing knowledge, the activity fostered student awareness and concern regarding the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness at both school and home. Thus, health outreach focused on the 3M movement proved to be an effective promotional and preventive measure in supporting DHF prevention and cultivating clean and healthy living habits from an early age.
